I've been having a really good time making fan fret guitars. Ralph Novak, the king of fan fret guitars, was correct when he told me the guitars not only play really well, but also sound fantastic. This particular version has a 27" scale length for the bass string and a 24.750" scale for the high E string. In standard tuning this results in a very big bass for a relatively small guitar. The low string can also be dropped as low as B and still sound very good. Interestingly, the string tension on these guitars seems to be less or more slinky feeling than on a standard guitar.
I also love the look of the fan fret guitar; the angles allow me to have some fun with the bridge and headstock curves.
This particular guitar is a Model R with Brazilian Rosewood and German spruce.
