This guitar is a MODEL R NON-CUTAWAY with Brazilian Rosewood back, sides, headstock, fingerboard and bridge with a German Spruce top. Changing the fret orientation from perpendicular to 2.5° to the centerline was done to make the guitar more ergonomic for the left hand and seems to work quite well. One offshoot of the angled fret design is that it allowed me to make the headstock and tuning machines asymmetrical, which I really like from an aesthetic viewpoint.
I don’t know how far this idea dates back, but you can see a version of it on the Rickenbacker® Model 481. It looks to me that their frets are angled to a greater degree but I think anywhere between 1.75° and 2.5° is very comfortable.
If you are looking for something a little old and different, this may be a good option.
